In the L.A.R.P. Realm of the Myth Wood there have been many different magical weapons and item that have influenced events. I will now try to made a comprehensive list of them with a bit of a history on them as well as who is in possession of them now.
The Black Sword, Sam’El
When the Wizard Agamemnon trapped the Daemon Lord Sam’El in his fiery sword he had no idea he would be creating a powerful sentient weapon. The sword was a powerful weapon in its own right, now combined with Sam’El’s dark soul it is almost unstoppable. Whoever knowingly chooses to pick up the Black Sword is instantly possessed by the personality of Sam’El, and granted all of the power of a Daemon Lord. The Black Sword’s hold over its wielder can only be broken when the sword comes in contact with Agamemnon the White. In time the Sword will devour the soul of its wielder, thereby permanently turning the person into a standard Daemon. Then it will need a new wielder. At this point the Black Sword is being wielded by the Paladin Arsten.
Agamemnon the White
When the Wizard Agamemnon trapped the Daemon Lord Sam’El in his fiery sword there was a backlash of magical energy that trapped Agamemnon’s soul in his War Hammer. The hammer has the following affects on its wielder:
- If a Magic user or a Barbarian picks up the hammer they retain their memories, but change classes to a level three Wizard.
- If other non-magic users pick up the hammer their memories disappear and they become a Mage.
- The hammer has the ability to kill a Daemon with only one hit.
- The hold of Agamemnon over it’s wielder can only be broken when the hammer comes in contact with The Black Sword, Sam’El.
- If the character is not a magic user or a barbarian, then their memories are trapped in an orb. If the Orb is struck by the Hammer then those memories are returned to the wielder of the Hammer.
At this point the Hammer is being wielded by Eric Matrius.
FairenGar
One of five ancient weapons created by the Children of Light. Awarded to the Winner of the winter festival each year. The wielder of FairenGar can choose, at the beginning of each event, whether they would like to have an additional armor point, extra life, or it can act as a keen weapon. If FairenGar is won by the same person in consecutive years they can choose two of the bonuses. etc. At this point FairenGar is being wielded by Lord Gadin.
Elemental Shield
A magical shield that allows it’s owner to choose, once a scenario, one of the four major elements: Fire, water, air, or earth. This allows the shield to then block that element. It was awarded to Llew for winning second place at the Second Annual Myth Wood Tournament and Feast. After the tournament the shield has been seen in the possession of Brynjar.
Gray Elven Armor
Light weight armor that was traditionally worn by Gray Elves. It gives an armor point to characters without one, but does not stack if the character wearing it already has an armor point. While it is worn it also gives the owner the ability Forest Blend. The armor was awarded to Wild for getting Third place in the Second Annual Myth Wood Tournament and Feast, and has stayed in his possession.
Will of the Wood
Mystical armor that gives it’s owner a stackable armor point. It was created by the Myth Wood for it’s chosen champion. In conjunction with the Spirit Stone Gauntlet, it can absorb magic energy thereby repairing any damage done to the armor as well as healing the wearer. It was originally made for Gadin of the Gray Elves, and is in his possession still.
Spirit Stone Gauntlet of Will of the Wood
Mystical Gauntlet that was made at the same time as the armor Will of the Wood. The Spirit Stone on the gauntlet houses the cursed soul of Lou MorningStar. It gives it’s owner immunity to magic; Arcane, Eldritch, Daemonic, etc. The gauntlet of Will of the Wood acts as a buckler, as well as a means for the armor to absorb magic, which will repair it. The character wearing the Gauntlet Will of the Wood may block attacks both magical and physical, but may not grab weapons with it. To wear the gauntlet you must sacrifice one of your lives to it, and for each additional season you wear it you must give up one more life. The Gauntlet was made as a way for the Wood to remove the Curse that was destroying it. It is currently in the possession of Lord Gadin.
Plus one daggers
Magical daggers that have a permanent enchantment on them that lets them act as if they were keen. Only two are currently known of in the Myth Wood. One is an old Gray Elf dagger in the possession of Vigo/Victus. Another is one from the old human settlement of EverMist in the possession of Samheim.
Giant’s Knife
A Demi-god Knife that was awarded to Vigo at the First Annual Myth Wood Tournament and Feast. It has a permanent enchantment on it that lets it act as if it were keen. Because it is a Demi-god weapon it can destroy shields. It was left at the weapon shop for the last few years, but was recently awarded to Lord Elric for winning second place at the Third Annual Myth Wood Tournament.
Necklaces of Healing
Magical necklaces that allow the owner to heal themselves one per life. There are three of them that are known to be in the Myth Wood. The first was in the possession of Grimner Graybeard, it vanished shortly after he did. The Second was in the possession of Llew. The Third was in the possession of Vigo.
The Chained Book
A mysterious locked book that was found by Brother Ravenwood at the excavation site of the Wizards tower. When Brother Ravenwood found the keys and unlocked the book, a chain appeared binding him to the Book. As long as it remains unlocked there is magic in the Myth Wood. The book has been chained to the Mage’s tower thereby removing a need for a bearer. It’s power now destroys anyone not a magic user who enters the Mage Tower.
Eir’s Favor
After Eir revoked her favor for undisclosed reasons, the item was secreted away from her garden and returned to the Myth Wood as a prize in a tournament. Arsten, possessed by the Daemon Sam’El, won the tournament and is the current bearer of the Item.
The character who possesses it is:
- Blessed with one additional life.
- Worth double the experience points to any person who kills them.
- Immune to Soul Siphon, Soul Union, and hold spells.
The person in possession of Eir’s Favor loses it when all of their lives have been lost in one scenario before the scenario has ended. They then place it on the ground before leaving the Wood, to be picked up by whomever finds it.
Scepter of the King of the Myth Wood
Brought forth as a gift for King Balin at his coronation. It is the symbol of the Wood’s excepting of Balin as the current King. As long as a king holds the scepter no lock or door can bar his way.
EverMist Anvil
Part of the EverMist Forge that was used to commune with the Myth Wood. If used by a smith it can enhance weapons and items with basic enchantments. Provided the smith has enough souls and gold to work with. Currently located at the Heart Tree.
Pure Soul Crystal
Blue crystals that can hold a part of a soul. Used to return souls to Daemons should they wish to become human again. Can also be used to tie ones soul to something. At least two are known to be in the Myth Wood right now. One anchors Gadin’s soul to the Heart Tree. The other is in Gadin’s possession, but was used to return Marta’s soul to her. To fill a pure soul gem you must have soul siphon, soul union or spell of soul manipulation. Can be corrupted by Daemonic magic.
Corrupt Soul Crystal
Red crystals that can hold a part of a soul. Used to give the soul in the crystal control of the owner. Can also be used to let the soul control an object or location. One was used to change Lord Elric into a werewolf, another was used to change Riddick into a troll. To fill a corrupt soul gem you must have soul siphon, soul union or spell of soul manipulation. Can be purified by Oridinic magic.
Spirit Crystal
Green crystal that can hold a single entire soul. Used to store a persons soul if their body is destroyed. It can also be used to store magical energies, as well as potentially combine souls if they have been reduce enough by soul damage. Currently there is only one in the Myth Wood, it houses the soul of Lou MorningStar, and the curse that had been put on the Myth Wood.
Mage Stones
White or red transparent stones that glow with an inner light. They are used by magic users to seal things away, or construct gates. They were used by Marta to seal the Black Sword in the graveyard. They were also used by Gadin to seal away Agamemnon the White by the Heart Tree. They have been used to open gates to both the Void, to help the Daemons, as well as Validus, to help the Ordin. They are very common in the Myth Wood.
That is all of the currently known magical weapons and items. I will now describe some of the hinted at or mentioned magical weapons and items from the Myth Wood stories.
EverMist Forge
Mystical Forge constructed by the Children of Light, and used to commune with the Myth Wood. If a proper connection is made, the smith becomes the Consort of the Forge and can create wonders and relics. The Forge is made up of three parts. The EverMist Anvil, which insures a neutral work zone. The Font of Souls, which fuels the Forge with positive soul energy. The Bellows of Greed, which supplies the Forge with negative energies. The EverMist Forge was tainted and exploded after the Gods, Light, and Dark Elves channeled their combined energies through it to curse the Wood and it’s human inhabitants. The EverMist Anvil has been found and is at the Heart Tree. The Font and Bellows have not been located at this time.
Dagger of Titania the Mad
Dagger that was used by the Mad Dark Elf queen Titania to kill a god. This act was what caused the scarring of the Myth Wood, and the bonding of the Myth Wood with Lou MorningStar. She kept it in her possession until she was exiled from the Myth Wood at the end of the War of four Races. It was not on her person when she entered the Road between Realms. The true power of the dagger is unknown but any weapon that could kill a god is most powerful indeed.
The Five Weapons of the First Age
The Five Weapons of the First Age were made by the Consort of the forge for the Children of Light. This was done to arm the Children against the Shadows of the Void and their Daemon army. The Children of the Light won the war, but ended up leaving the Myth Wood. The weapons are said to be hidden throughout the Myth Wood.
The first of the Five was the Black Sword of War. It was imbued with the power of burning red passion, to fill the Children of Light with the desire to fight. It could ignite into flames burning weapons and enemies alike. It is believed that after the Children left the Myth Wood it was found by the Dark Elves and used by them in the Arena of Valor until they too left the Wood. No mention of it is made after that.
The Second of the Five was the Bright Spear of Wraith. This was imbued with the power of Will, to ensure the Children never gave up the will to fight, and see their enemy destroyed. It could smash through any shield to find it’s victims heart. After the children left, the Spear fell into the hands of the Light elves and was used by them in the Arena of Valor until they were exiled from the Myth Wood.
The Third of the Five was the Guide of Knowledge. It was imbued with the power of Wisdom, so the Children would know the right path to victory. It could give the knowledge of the ancient powers of the elements to it’s holder, so they could channel those powers in combat. After the Children left the Wood it was safeguarded by the Guardian in Shadow’s Hold. Later he would give it to the Gray Elves, they hid it away until it would be needed.
The Fourth of the Five was the Staff of Balance. It was imbued with the power of Equilibrium so the Children would remember endings were as important as beginnings, and that even wars must end. Either end of the staff was balanced, positive energy on one end and negative energy on the other. No force could stop it, for all things return to a state of balance or die. After the Children left, the staff was forgotten. It is believed that no one wanted a weapon who’s power favored no one, not even it’s wielder.
The fifth of the Five was the Guardians Blade. It was imbued with the power of Perseverance. It had been made not for the war but for after the war to guard against the enemy. The wielder would be the watcher on the wall against the return of darkness. He would be empowered with the perseverance to never give up and always protect. It was sharper then all other weapons, yet protected its user like a shield. It could even heal and return life if need be. It was the custom of the Children of Light after the war to give the Guardian’s Blade to the one chosen to watch over Shadow’s Hold where the Shadows of the Void were trapped. Once a year a new Guardian of Shadow’s Hold was chosen, until the Children left. The last of the chosen stayed on after the rest had left, he became the patron of the Gray Elves. After a time the Guardian disappeared from Shadow’s Hold and was not seen again, but it is believed that he left the Guardian’s Blade with the Gray Elves.
This concludes my List. We all know, however, that the Myth Wood is ever growing. I’m sure it is just a matter of time before more wonders of magic show up.
