August 7th, Myth Wood L.A.R.P. Recap

For a day that started off with rain and thunder it certainly turned out to be epic. Thank you to all that were able to make it out on the 7th, it was a wonderful day of l.a.r.p.ing. Special thanks to Danyel Pick, Brent Pick, Nickolas Clark, and Mike Serphico, you guys were great NPCs.

Now onto the recap.

Sentinelagh the 38th of Ordo, Saint Vandergrah’s day

The day began with a natural storm of rain and thunder, it ended with a storm of chaos. With caravans loaded and settlement shields in hand delegations of Crystal bearers from both Val’Haven and D’Eirsted returned to Myth’gar. Knowing full well the outposts of Fizbandurrr and Brighten Creek had been reduced to ash by the actions of those being controlled by the black medallions.

The delegation from Val’Haven returned to the site of Fizbandurrr, and set the settlement shield down to once again open a trade outpost. The delegation from D’Eirsted however found a new location, and in this way the trade outpost of Freehold was established.

Meanwhile the squires who had pledged themselves to the cult of the Black heart brought a npc to Champions Fall. The Forge Master was established there and he was able to forge a settlement shield for the cult. The Cult of the Black heart then established their trade outpost of Dark Shire in the ruins of Brighten Creek. To further their enterprise they traded their special Cool-aid with both Val’Haven and D’Eirsted.

The monsters of the Wood under the command of a fierce Gargoyle were at this time raining havoc on the crystal bearers. Both Fizbandurrr and Freedomhold were overrun by the monsters. Their respective settlement shields were taken by and held captive by the monsters. With the completion of the Black Shrine they were also able to bring corrupted candles to the other shrines and increase the Black Shrine’s magic power.

The crystal bearers won back their settlement shields and lost them again many times. The cult of the Blackheart made peace treaties with the crystal bearers only to break those treaties when it was advantageous for them. It was discovered that the leader of the Monsters was able to speak with the cult leader. Many of the monsters even called Dark Shire their home for a while.

The delegations from Val’Haven and D’Eirsted decided to join forces and make one trade outpost that would then be easier to defend. In this way New Townland was established.

In a strange twist of fate one of the monsters turned on the cult of the Blackheart and destroyed the trade outpost of Dark Shire. As the sun was setting on Myth’gar the cult hurriedly rushed to establish the trade outpost of New Home. They were successful in this. Then with a renewed agreement of peace between the cult and the monsters an attempt to set all the Cronospheres to the 12:00 o’clock time was made. They almost completed this but were thwarted at the last minute by the people of New Townland.

Back in New Townland, Orellius and Azrael dueled each other to see who would be the war chief of New Townland. With Azrael’s victory he was named war chief and Orellius his second in command.

That brought the day to an end.

Again thanks everyone for making it out. It was a glorious day. We look forward to seeing everyone for the final event of the year on September 18.

D’Eirstad

In the realm of Helheim there is a town named D’Eirstad. It has been there for 419 years. The people of D’Eirstad are the exiled remnant of the Hellion Empire. The Empire originated in a realm they remember as Myth’gar, and they arrived in Helheim through a gate to the west of the town. The gate has been dormant since their arrival. On Skyld 15th 419 A.F. the gate will open again.

2020 Plans Interrupted

With great reluctance I have come to the realization that the problems of the real world are determined to interrupt our plans for our world of make believe. I.E. the Myth Wood.

My place of employment has determined that I am an essential worker. What that means for me is that I will need to be in Alaska for the spring and better part of the summer. What that means for the Myth Wood is that I must cancel the April Tournament, as well as the June and July events. If all goes well I will return to Minnesota sometime in late July. Amy and I will then see if the schedule I have at that time will allow for l.a.r.p.s.

I am very disappointed and frustrated that this is happening. However, I am thankful that I have my job. In time all will return to normal, and when it does the Myth Wood will be ready to go.

While the l.a.r.p. is on hiatus, I encourage everyone to work on stories about their characters, work on weapons or garb they would like to have, and in general continue to enjoy the escapism that the Myth Wood provides us.

2020 Feast Rescheduled

To start with I would like to thank everyone who responded to our Facebook poll, or chose to contact us directly. Receiving your thoughts and concerns on these issues help make my decision easier.

The threat of contracting COVID-19 at our get together is small and unlikely. The real issue is individuals level of desire to go out and possibly expose themselves to illness. With our ability to combine the Feast and the Tournament into one gathering, we will be able to minimize this issue. This also lets us move the timeframe to April, which is later in the flu season and not as likely of a concern.

With all that said I am postponing the Myth Wood Feast that was scheduled for the 21st of March, and combining it with the Tournament that is scheduled for April 25th.

I am sorry for the lateness of the change and I hope this does not affect peoples schedule too much. I look forward to seeing everyone on April 25th at the Pine City Armory.

May Thanks & Recap

Big thank you to everyone who made it out on Saturday. We had a great turn out for our first event with right around 40 people attending. For the Tournament side of the day we had Bobby Milliman come in first in the Trial of the Sword. He won Farien’Gar for this year. Matt Kolecki. came in first at the Trial of the Locks and won Farien’Row for this year. Hunter Drummond came in first place for the Trial of the spell. He will have Fairen’Eld for this year. Congratulations guys.

Now for the storied events of the day. .

A dark time has come over the Myth Wood. The plague that ran rampant throughout the winter has now manifested in the form of the Blighted. People appeared who look just like former Einherjar of the Wood but with different names, mannerisms, and skills. They are lead by two generals, Inquisitor Ursula and Swert P.S. Constantine. These two answer to a mysterious figure known as He Who Walks UnSeen. They have made many attempts to take land and corrupt the people of the Wood to their ideology. By the end of the day He Who Walks UnSeen has taken control of King’s Rest, the Champion’s Hall and Old Tickle Town. Though the Gnome settlement in Old Tickle Town is not pleased it has bowed to the power of the Blighted and now works for them. Also of note two, of the Relics of the Wood have been won by the Blighted in fair trial at the tournaments.

If that was not bad enough. In a fit of bad judgment, alcohol may have been involved, Bernie with the support of Jarl Elric took the Blue Skull to each of the Three Smiths. With an additional magical item Bernie had found, the Smiths forged the skull into a cube. The plan was that it would help control the Revenant who is a plague creature of limitless lives that had been killing the people of the Wood. The results were not as planned. Bernie, Morgan Daniels, Jarl Elric, and the Revenant were joined together by an inseparable bond made from the being in the cube. Bernie, Morgan Daniels, and Jarl Elric took on monstrous forms. While the Revenant seemed to become a bit more human. All four were filled with the Revenant’s murderous impulses and proceeded to kill anyone they came across.

In a foolish attempt to get answers the Einherjar of the Wood joined forces with the Blighted. They captured one of the Four and imprisoned it in Brannhiem.
The Four laid waste to the town and all that were in it.
The heroes of West March manned the walls of Gray Arrow and held it safe from all threats. As did Faolin and his warriors for Hammers Hold.
The stranger Nastra, who as it turns out is a nephew of Marta’s, defended the Mage Tower in his Aunties absence and kept it safe for her.

In short is was a wonderful day. Thank you all so much, I look forward to seeing everyone again on the 23rd of June.

June 2017 Rankings & Experience

I have the experience points calculated and the rankings complete.  With the massive use of the Soul Union spell it was a bit more complicated than usual but I figured it out.  Here are the rankings based on kill count  only and a list of all the characters who leveled up.   We had over 50% of all the characters who were in the Wood that day level up!  Congrats to all.   If you are interested in your personal experience points shoot me a message and I will look it up for you.

June 2017 – Thanks & Photo Album

Thanks to Jen, Chelon, and Chelsea for taking photos on Saturday!   If anyone has any more please let me know and I will get them added to the event album.

Thank you from Ed

So the first L.A.R.P. of the season was a great time, and ended as a wet one. For the first time in five years mother nature did not let us get a full day in. Not going to lie I was a little disappointed. That being said though, the first part of the day was a terrific experience.
Everyone was great, the day was hot but pleasant. We got so much story in and lots of wonderful battles. Thank you all so much for the great characters you play and the fun you share.
I would like to put out a special thank you to the folks that came out and helped with all the building and prep work. Vigo Blackhearte., Shawn Bachmeier. Matt Kolecki, Danielle Kitley, Brent Pick., Joey Janowski, Jermey Jeremy Cox, Danyel Jabas, Jason Johnson. You guys rock, thanks for helping make the Myth Wood look great.
Also, let me never forget Chelon Rasmussen for being our Eir, and Jen Woody for coming out and being our new Banker, thanks ladies.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the 22 of July for our next L.A.R.P.

Thank you from Vigo

I wanted to give a big heart felt thanks to everyone that sacrifices their labor and time for the Myth Wood to make it such the wonderful place that it is today. Thank you Edward Ableman, Amy Patterson and ElVera Ableman for allowing us into your lives and onto your lands to wreak havoc upon our foes and for giving us the chance to make new friendships and comrades in arms (as well as the chance to devour ElVera’s divine baked goods, for without them, we’d most certainly be lost).
I would also like to give a special thanks to Scott Milliman and Davin Woodcock for being the most useful, vile, sickening, twisted and willing minions a Tyrannical Overlord could ask for. You have both done me proud this last session and I will have your continued servitude in the days to come.
To my new comrades in arms I say this to you; Oderint dum metuant!
Lastly, I’d like to thank those who made it out to the LARP (even though the second half was rained out) for the chance to sacrifice yourselves to Vigo. You may have had the easiest job there, but you did it well and with style (I’m looking at you TyFong Ackerman) and I love you all for it.
Thanks again everyone! I had a blast and I hope to slay you all again at the next one!
-Vigo Blackhearte Future Dread Overlord of the Myth Wood.

Please, if any of these dates do not work for you let me know as soon as possible. I have a little wiggle room. My goal is to get as many of us together as possible.

We are looking forward to seeing what fun and mischief this season in the Myth Wood will bring.
